Rhythm Jabali- VBS 2009
Rhythm Jabali- VBS 2009
Rhythm Jabali mixed African culture with the idea of "rock" or "foundation." We had great fun with music and crafts and African dance and African drumming and we learned about the wise builder and the silly person who built on the sand. Great fun for forty wonderful kids.

The kids are what it's all about. We just want them to have fun and learn a little bit more about God in the process.

The Rhythm part has always been drumming. We teach the kids the basics of afro-caribbean hand-drumming and then we teach them a song. And they play.

Each morning we begin with a sketch- often an ongoing story. This one was about Sue Nami building her dream house on sand in stead of a stone foundation. Each day her house got taller.

The foundation stones were important things from Jesus' Sermon on the mount: Love Your Enemies, Do Not Judge, etc. The kids really understood the message.
